About

I started Highland Drafting in 2002 to support small architectural firms using the  Vectorworks CAD program.

It was in a studio class at the University of Cincinnati in 1992 that I was first exposed to MiniCad, the predecessor to Vectorworks.  I so loved the program that I always sought firms which used it when I was employed as an Architectural Intern.

Since starting Highland Drafting, I have worked with Architects around the country on residential, commercial, institutional and religious projects.  One of the things which I attribute to helping me put together construction documents is the fact that I have some four years of actual construction experience.

My first job after receiving my architecture degree was constructing Earthships for two years in Taos, NM.  During a slow time at a firm in Vermont, I actually worked construction for several months on a residence I had drawn – from foundation to roof.

Most recently, I have spent the past several years undertaking a massive renovation and addition to my own home, a 1920’s bungalow.  The primary lesson from this experience is never live in a construction zone!
